Through CYO, Saint Ambrose School sponsors a growing roster of sports teams including Basketball, Baseball, Track, and Cheerleading. These teams compete with other Archdiocese of Washington league participants.

Students in Kindergarten - 8th grade attend a weekly art class. The class focus is on creativity and incorporates many mediums of communication within the visual arts.
The purpose of the program is to broaden the education of the child by giving him/her experience in and an understanding of music. The key is involvement. Music is a highly individual activity in which the student has to get personally involved. The cultural and character-building advantages to be gained from early exposure to music and the mental and physical discipline involved in learning to read and play music are of immeasurable value. Our goal is to bring the experience of music to every child.
All students attend weekly music classes. The curriculum includes an introduction to various forms of music and participation that includes preparation for the annual Christmas Concert.
Students also have extracurricular opportunities for musical enrichment through the school choir and band program.
The Choir is an extension of the Music program and participation is available to students in grades 2 thru 8. The choir rehearses weekly outside of class time. The Choir sings at Saint Ambrose Parish Masses once a month and prepares material throughout the year for other performances.
All students attend weekly instruction in Spanish. The class provides an opportunity for students to learn how to better communicate and to learn about Spanish-speaking cultures around the world. Elementary school students learn through songs, stories, projects, and speaking practice. Middle school students prepare for high school foreign language programs.
All students attend Physical Education class twice per week. In class, the students will learn to demonstrate competency and proficiency in movement forms and apply movement concepts and principles in learning and the continued development of motor skills. Students will also learn to lead a physically active lifestyle to achieve and help maintain physical fitness while understanding that physical activity provides an opportunity for enjoyment.
This organization offers students the opportunity to plan, design, and implement a variety of activities and special programs for the student body. Executive Board members and homeroom representatives also participate in discussions regarding school policies and student programs. Students in grade 7 are elected each spring to serve as the Executive Board for the following school year and homeroom representatives are elected at the start of the school year.
