Have you noticed how the church floors have been so shiny lately? That’s just one shining example of the commitment so many people make to our parish. It’s also just one shining example of the dedication of Carmen and Roberto Torres. Mr. and Mrs. Torres will be honored with the Manifesting the Kingdom of God Award by Cardinal Donald Wuerl for their tremendous service to Saint Ambrose Parish.
The award is given to one or two people from each parish every three years who have witnessed to their faith through their service. Roberto and Carmen are obvious candidates for this award because of their dedication to the Cursillo Movement, Usher Ministry and as members of a team who clean the church regularly. I am incredibly humbled by the amount of time and effort they give to our parish.
You are very welcome to attend the awards ceremony which will take place at 2 PM on Sunday, 5 January at the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception on Michigan Avenue. We will honor Roberto and Carmen at Saint Ambrose on Sunday 12 January at the 12:30 Mass. While the special award is only given to two people every few years, the work everyone does every day for the good of our parish community is a shining example of how the Kingdom of God is manifest among us.
