Dear Fellow Disciples:
Did you finish everything on your summer project list? At the end of August every year I ask myself exactly the same question – Where did summer go? During the normal business of the school year I make a mental list of all the things I'm going to get done when things slow down in the summer. I set myself up for disappointment as soon as I assume I'm going to have so much extra time during the summer. Somehow it doesn't happen so I'm left with a list half completed.
One of my summer projects is to plan for renewing our stewardship of the parish, so let me start on that now. For two weeks every September I ask us to reflect on our commitment of time and money to the parish. On the weekend of the September 13/14 we will make a pledge to support the parish financially. On the weekend of September 20/21 we will have the Ministry Fair. After all the Masses on that weekend, representatives from all the parish ministries and groups will be in Fannon Hall to speak with parishioners about how to become involved in the parish life.
As you enjoy the remaining weeks of summer, please take time to consider how you want to be involved in the parish and what level of financial support is right for you. I hope your were able to fulfill all your summer ambitions and that they were enriching for you.
Your brother,
Fr. Kevin Carlin Kennedy
P.S. Thank you to those of you who have used your special mail-in contribution envelopes to support the parish on the Sundays you were away.
