Some people are afraid of the “C” word as in the word “commitment.” Many of us feel that we have so many commitments that we can’t fit another one into our schedules. But I believe that a commitment to Saint Ambrose Parish is worthy of taking something else off our schedules if necessary. Our fidelity to God and one another makes everything else on our calendars so much more meaningful. Here at Saint Ambrose, September is the month to assess and renew our commitments to God and community.
Each September I ask us to reconsider our commitment to the Saint Ambrose community in two ways. I spoke about the first way in my letter last week regarding the Stewardship Fair on the 21st and 22nd of September. Today I am asking us to make a commitment to serve our fellow parishioners by giving of our time to a ministry. To help us reflect upon how we might serve the community, we will have a Ministry Fair on September 28th and 29th. It will take place on Saturday during the Fall Festival and after the Masses that weekend. If you remember the Fair from prior years, all the groups of the parish set up display tables to highlight their ministries and representatives will be available to discuss how you might like to get involved.
Please stay after Mass to socialize and learn about all the incredible things that are happening in our beloved parish. If you have a concern (or assumption) that you can’t get involved in a ministry for some reason, talk to the people who are doing it and see if your assumption is true or not. Finally, thank you to all the members of parish ministries and organizations for your continuing service to the parish.
