What is our unique compelling reason for existence? What would people outside of our parish say is unique about us? Catholic churches all have a common mission to celebrate God’s presence among us and build up the kingdom of God in the world around us. In addition to what is common among all Catholic churches, it has been my hope and dream that Saint Ambrose would be a very welcoming community where everyone feels welcome to come and experience the love of our great God.
I need you to do whatever you can to deliver and embody the message of invitation and welcome. I try to be very visible in the Cheverly area and mingle with as many people as possible as a way to show people that I am approachable. I usually tell people that they are welcome at Saint Ambrose. I prefer to be friendly, but I also hope people will respond to my invitation and come to Saint Ambrose.
Why bother? Because God is good, and our community of faith embodies God’s love. It gives me joy to share that with others. If people experience a greater sense of self-worth and well-being through their connection to God and our community, I think that is a very compelling reason for our parish to exist. Why do you think Saint Ambrose exists?
